What your birth chart shows
A birth chart (or natal chart) is a map of the sky at the minute you were born, seen from the place you were born. Each planet sits in a sign, which describes how that part of you works, and in a house, which describes the area of life where it shows up most. The Ascendant and Midheaven are the chart's main angles: how you meet the world, and the direction you grow toward in public life.
- Sun: your direction and core identity.
- Moon: what you need to feel safe; your emotional reflexes.
- Mercury: how you think, learn and talk.
- Venus: how you love and what you value.
- Mars: how you act, compete and go after what you want.
- Jupiter and Saturn: where you grow easily, and where you build slowly through effort.
- Uranus, Neptune and Pluto: the slow, generational planets — personal mainly through their house.
- Chiron and the North Node: an old wound you learn to heal, and the direction you are growing into.
Why the birth time matters
The planets' signs come from your birth date. The houses, the Ascendant and the Midheaven come from your birth time and place, because the zodiac turns across the horizon roughly one sign every two hours. Without a time you still get every planet's sign, but the houses and angles are left out rather than guessed — the calculator says so on the result.
How to read your chart in five steps
- Start with the big three: Sun, Moon and Rising.
- Look at where your Sun and Moon fall by house: those are the life areas your attention keeps returning to.
- Check the personal planets — Mercury, Venus and Mars — for how you think, love and act.
- Notice any house holding three or more planets: a theme that is loud in your life.
- Read the house guides for each placement that stands out, then compare it with your own experience.

How the calculation works
Your birth place becomes coordinates, the time zone that applied on that date is used (daylight saving and historical changes included), and the positions are computed for that exact minute with Placidus houses. It is the same engine that powers the full report, so the chart you see here is the one the report reads.
From chart to reading
A table of placements tells you where everything is; a reading tells you what it adds up to. The free mini profile takes the same birth details and writes your Sun, Moon and Rising together, with one of your strongest days this month. The full report goes through the whole chart, answers the questions you write in, and maps the next 30 days, 90 days and your 2027.

Questions
Is this birth chart calculator really free?
Yes. No account, no email and no payment — the chart is calculated and shown, and nothing is stored.
Which house system do you use?
Placidus, the most widely used system in Western astrology.
Why are my houses missing?
Houses need a birth time. Without one, every planet's sign is still shown, but the houses, Ascendant and Midheaven are left out.
What does Rx mean?
Retrograde: the planet appeared to move backward from Earth when you were born. It is common and usually means that planet's themes work in a more inward, reflective way.
What is the difference between a birth chart and a natal chart?
Nothing — they are two names for the same chart.
