Mercury retrograde 2027 dates at a glance

First Mercury retrograde 2027: February 9 – March 3

• Retrograde station: February 9 at 12:35 PM ET, at Pisces 5°58'.
• Direct station: March 3 at 7:32 AM ET, at Aquarius 20°55'.
• Pre-shadow: from January 25 (Mercury first crosses the degrees it will retrace).
• Post-shadow: until March 23 (Mercury is back where the retrograde began).

Mercury turns retrograde in Pisces, slips back into Aquarius on February 18, turns direct there on March 3 and re-enters Pisces on March 18.

Pisces and Aquarius: dreams, intuition, friendships and group plans. Messages can be vague, so ask the follow-up question. A good stretch for creative revision, journaling and reconnecting with old friends — less so for signing up to something you don't fully understand.

Second Mercury retrograde 2027: June 10 – July 4

Mercury turns retrograde in Cancer, backs into Gemini on June 26, turns direct there on July 4 and returns to Cancer on July 12.

Cancer and Gemini: family, home, memories, siblings and everyday communication. Old family topics resurface and summer travel plans may need a second look. Good for sorting the home, revisiting old photos and having the conversation you postponed.

Third Mercury retrograde 2027: October 7 – October 28

• Retrograde station: October 7 at 10:36 AM ET, at Scorpio 4°55'.
• Direct station: October 28 at 10:11 AM ET, at Libra 19°18'.
• Pre-shadow: from September 17 (Mercury first crosses the degrees it will retrace).
• Post-shadow: until November 13 (Mercury is back where the retrograde began).

Mercury turns retrograde in Scorpio, backs into Libra on October 16, turns direct there on October 28 and re-enters Scorpio on November 10.

Scorpio and Libra: trust, secrets, shared money and relationships. Hidden information tends to surface, and agreements with partners benefit from a careful reread. Good for honest talks, closing old accounts and renegotiating — less so for rushing into a contract.

What Mercury retrograde actually is

Three or four times a year Mercury appears to move backwards against the stars for about three weeks. It doesn't really reverse — it's an optical effect of Earth overtaking a faster inner planet on the inside track. In astrology, Mercury rules communication, travel, contracts and technology, so these weeks are traditionally a time to review, revise and reconnect rather than launch.

• Do: double-check bookings and messages, back up your phone, finish old projects, reconnect with people from your past.
• Go easy on: signing big contracts, buying expensive electronics or launching something brand new — if you have to, read everything twice.
• Remember: life doesn't stop. Plenty of good things begin during a retrograde; they just tend to need a second look.

Which signs feel Mercury retrograde most in 2027?
